George O. Meyers

George Orlo Meyers, 65, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 23, 2017 at his home.

He was born March 31, 1952 in Woodstock, Illinois, to George Carl and Mary Ann (Brown) Meyers and was the youngest of two children. George, also known by "Roscoe" and "Bubba," was remarkably charismatic, deeply caring, had a magnetic personality and an extraordinarily generous heart. He graduated from Marian High School and  attended Robert Morris College and Rock Valley College preparing for his career as a Federal Fire Fighter from which he retired as a Captain, an EMT, and Paramedic.  He had also been an officer with the Elk Grove Village Fire Department.  After retirement, he worked as a train conductor at the Lincoln Park Zoo, and also as a coachman in downtown Chicago. In recent years, he moved to Johnsburg, Illinois, spending time at the lake with his dog, Buddy, always by his side. To know him was to love him.

He leaves behind his sister, Mary Ann Meyers, nephew, Joshua Michael Talbert, and niece, Regina Marie Talbert, many cousins and innumerable cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 1967 and father in 1995.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary, Woodstock from 10:00 am until the 12:00 pm Funeral Service.  Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
