Walton "Walt" Rosquist Obituary

Walton "Walt" Rosquist, 80, of Woodstock passed away Wednesday, March 8, at Northwestern Medicine, Woodstock. He was the son of Nels and Bernadette (Marcotte) Rosquist.

Walton grew up in the Antioch area and graduated from Antioch High School. He served in the U.S. army in Germany. In 1978 he married Linda Blank in Crystal Lake.

He was employed at Flowerwood in Crystal Lake where he started as a floral designer, became a manager and part owner over a 40-year career. After retiring from Flowerwood, he and his wife were partners in Golddigger Perennials, Woodstock, selling wholesale to garden centers in Northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

His favorite vacations were spent near lakes in northern Wisconsin and Kentucky and beside the ocean in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and North Carolina. He also enjoyed golf, fishing, trap shooting, reading, making duck decoys, and hunting with his neighbor and friend, Bob Hackbart. He was a member of the McHenry County Enterprise Club and enjoyed the resulting friendships with its many and varied members. He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends in his home. He attended Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Linda, and his sister, Judy (Jochen) Schroler and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded by his parents, his brothers, Edward and John.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, 8505 Church Street, Crystal Lake, IL. Coffee and cake will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church for the building fund.
