Sylvia C. Fischer

Sylvia (Windolph) Fischer, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Woodstock, IL.  

Sylvia was born in Chicago on December 2, 1940, to Herman and Mary (Simrell) Windolph. She attended Audubon elementary school where she made close bonds with her classmates and remained close with them after all these years. She graduated from Lake View High School in Chicago, Class of 1958 and lived much of life in Chicago until moving to Woodstock in 1992.  

To know Sylvia is to have shared laughter with her.  She had a vivacious personality and her beautiful smile would light up any room.  She was known for her kind, compassionate spirit and her humor and generosity touched the lives of so many.  Sylvia was a devoted and loving mother.  She treasured her children and when she became a proud Grandma, her grandchildren became the lights of her life.  She especially enjoyed embarrassing them by commenting on every picture they posted on Facebook. 

Sylvia had a passion for the arts, particularly the ballet.  A lifelong love of dance lead her to fulfill her dream of opening her business, Pointe Shoe Fittings by Sylvia.  For almost 30 years, one of her greatest joys was fitting ballerinas with their pointe shoes. She is now in heaven dancing with joy and keeping the angels on their toes.  Those who knew her will miss her dearly.  

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her children, Kurt (Holly) Fischer and Holly (Gary) Meyer; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Russell) Noland, Noah Meyer, Mallory Fischer and Hayley Meyer; her sister Robin (Ciro) Scaletta and brother James Windolph; and her many nieces and nephews.  

 A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 14th, 2022 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock IL.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a service immediately following at 12:00 pm.  Interment services will be in Oakland Cemetery in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
