Steven Freund Obituary

Steven R. Freund, 70, of Woodstock, passed away on September 18, 2022 in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Steve was born in Woodstock on July 21, 1952, the son of William A. and Mary M. (Huebsch) Freund.

Steve was a life resident of Woodstock.  He graduated from St. Mary Grade School, Marian Central Class of 1970, and Western Illinois University in Macomb. He was an avid football fan, and player.  He was awarded the Golden Helmet from the Chicago Tribune in 1969 as a Prep Football All Star while playing at Marian.

He was a 4th generation carpenter and home builder with Freund Homes in Woodstock; known for his trim carpentry work.  He was an avid fisherman, spending 52 years on Lake Geneva and countless trips to northern Wisconsin.  He was a regular at Coleman’s in Woodstock, a beer fan of the Miller 64.  Steve was a devoted son, caring for his mother until her passing on July 12, 2022.

He is survived by his life partner, Deb Lundmark; a brother, Robert Freund; a sister, Susanne (John) DePaul; and grandchildren, Riley, Tori, and Lily.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Katrina Freund.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at the Woodstock VFW, 240 N. Throop Street, Woodstock.  Please RSVP by text to either 815-382-1182 or 815-321-2820.
