Shirley A. (Reinking) Stevens passed away on October 21, 2023. She was born December 21, 1941 in Fort Wayne, IN to Ralph and Freida (Bowler) Reinking. Shirley found a way to explore the world by becoming a Flight Attendant for Trans World Airlines (TWA). She was adored by her passengers, many of whom sent letters of praise for her warm demeanor and the outstanding job she provided. In 1965, on an extra-special flight, she met TWA Captain William (Bill) Stevens. Bill and Shirley were married July 30, 1966 in Fort Wayne. They resided in Chicago, IL for their earliest years where they also started their family.
In 1973, Bill and Shirley, along with Kurt, Kristen, Kevin, and Frosty (the dog) moved into the home Bill designed in Woodstock, IL where she lived for over 50 years. Shirley loved her family and was often seen cheering for her kids at the numerous sports in which they participated. She was always a voice of encouragement for their academics, wanting to set them up well for their futures. She was also the soft side of the parents when a child inevitably got in trouble. Shirley was a lover of any and all animals, though especially dogs and cats with numerous strays finding their way to her home. She was a friend to all, human and animal alike.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (Frank) Manning. She is survived by her husband, Bill Stevens, three children, Kurt (Kathie) Stevens, Kristen (Victor) Pena, and Kevin (Leann) Stevens, grandson, Avi, and brother, Terry (Rita) Reinking.
