Sherry A. Riley

Sherry A. Riley, 72, of Johnsburg, IL, passed away on September 28, 2023 at Loyola University Medical Center.

Sherry was born on July 3, 1951 to Wilmer and Gwendolyn Montanye in Woodstock, IL. She was a 1969 graduate of Huntley High School.  After graduation she married her husband of 53 years, Philip Riley.  While her husband was serving in the United States Air Force, they spent time in Spain, England, and Texas before settling in Johnsburg, IL.  

She had a love of antiquing, garage sale shopping, and reading.  However, a majority of her time was spent watching her sons (and later her grandchildren) participating in activities and sports.  Prior to retirement, she enjoyed her jobs in the cafeteria at Johnsburg High School and as a daycare assistant at Grace Lutheran in Richmond, IL.

Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved son Kevin and her parents Wilmer Sr. and Gwendolyn, along with her sister Sheila.  She is survived by her husband Philip and sons Troy and Bryan (Jamie), along with her brothers Wilmer Jr. (Ruth) and Ronald (Loretta).  She is also survived by her grandchildren Faith, Keira, and Tyler, whom she loved very much, along with many nieces and nephews.  The Riley family would like to express their gratitude to the family of the anonymous organ donor who provided us with so many extra memories.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin, and Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL.  Following the service, interment will be at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock, IL. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gift of Hope, an organization which serves to enhance the lives of many people through organ and tissue donation.
