Ronald Jackson Obituary

Ronald Albert Jackson (age 93), formerly of Wonder Lake, Woodstock and Crystal Lake, IL passed away at Valley Hi Nursing Home on January 5, 2021 due to complications of Covid-19 and after many years of suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.

He was born on the north side of Chicago to Albert and Myrtle (Severson) Jackson.  He graduated from Laughlin Falconer Grammar and Foreman High Schools.  Ron married Patricia R. Ward on October 22, 1949 at St. Geneviece’s Catholic Church in Chicago.  They were married until her death on December 31, 1996.  Ron and Pat were an incredible couple and wonderful parents.  Sometimes we were even smart enough to listen to them.

Ron spent his career in the reprographics industry in Illinois, Georgia and Florida.  He was a proud member of the AMONS S.A.C., a group of men from the north side of Chicago established in 1938 that socialized together, played ball, drank a few beers, and raised their families together.  Many of the friendships went back to their grammar school and even as far back as kindergarten. The group stayed close their entire lives, many well into their 80’s and even 90’s.  Sadly, he was the second to last survivor.

Ron was a longtime active member and former president of Marian Central High School’s Fathers Club.  He was a hard working, dedicated family man.  He loved to talk, willing to engage in conversation with anyone. He told wonderful stories and shared his experiences until Alzheimer’s took from him the ability to do so.  He will most of all be remembered as a very, very nice man, an attribute the world desperately needs today more than ever.

Ron was preceded in death by Pat, his wife of 47 years, his son Randall, an infant daughter Margaret Mary, his parents, his brother Robert (WW II), his in-laws Doug and Rita (Hofer) Ward, his brother-in-law Ron Ward, his wife Marianne, and nephew, Paul Ward.

Ron is survived by his children William (Anne Marie Viduya) Jackson of Glendale, AZ, Robert (Mary Johnson) Jackson of Rotonda West, FL, Aimee (John) Gutek of Antigo, WI, Jay Jackson of Antigo, WI, and daughter-in-law Colleen Doherty Jackson of Woodstock, IL.  Grandchildren include Jennifer (Thomas) Wollpert, Danielle Matlock, Joel (Kelly) Jackson, Courtney (Joe) Fisher – all of Woodstock.  Emilie Jackson of Chicago, IL, Ian Jackson of Phoenix, AZ , Katelyn (Matt) Fisher of Denver, CO, Rebecca Severt of Mosinee, WI, Sean (Keisha) Anderson of Sharon, WI, Steffanie Gutek of Belvidere, IL, Ashley (Tom) Breault of Brown Deer, WI, Amanda Jackson of Waukesha, WI, Gretchen (James Meyer) Jackson of Antioch, IL, Hannah (Cliff) Fandrich of McHenry, IL.  Great grandchildren include Molly Wollpert, Jack Wollpert, Brody Matlock, Hadley Matlock, Desmond Wilburn, Thomas Jackson, Niklas Jackson, Ellody Jackson, Ehlyn Fisher, Evangeline Fisher, Jackson Fisher, Olive Fisher, Kayleigh Severt, Dillion Severt, Austin Severt, Forest Anderson, Autumn Anderson, Amelia Breault and Jenna Meyer.  Also, Ron’s sister-in-law Sandra (Tony) Rasmussen of Huntley, IL and nephews Trey (Marla) Rasmussen, Doug (Courtney) Rasmussen and Jon (Katie) Ward, and great nieces and nephews.
