Robert M. McGrath, 68, of Woodstock affectionately known as “Brother Bob” or “UB” passed away on Monday May 23, 2022 after a long and courageous battle against cancer.
Robert was an avid ham radio operator where he met many of his closest friends. Robert also enjoyed building towers as well as traveling.
Robert worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years as well as being a fulltime nurse for McHenry County for 25 years.
He is survived by a brother, James (Tina) McGrath; a sister, Mary (Brian) Knoll; his nephew and best friend, Robert Thompson; his fiancé, Kelly Riggs; her children, Wayne (Rose) Andersen and Shawn Andersen; also, his aunts, Maureen, Patricia, Marilyn, and uncle Larry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen McGrath as well as many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Advocate Good Shepherd Hospice for their wonderful care and a very special thank you to the Smith family. Without you, we would never have made it through this difficult journey.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday May 28, 2022 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm at the Woodstock Moose Lodge, 406 Clay Street, Woodstock.
