Richard H. Yearton, age 90, of Woodstock, passed away October 14, 2023.
He was born in Elburn on October 24, 1932, the son of William and Amy (Paulson) Yearton. He married the late Janet Botts on June 13, 1959.
Richard joined the Army in January, 27 1953 where he was station in Korea and Germany. He came home on November 26, 1954 with three medals, National Defense Service medal, Army of Occupation medal and Good Conduct Medal. Richard was a very adventures man, during his younger years he enjoyed drag racing, racing cars at the Sycamore Speedway and working in the pit. He loved riding his motorcycle, flying in small private planes, fishing, and hunting. Richard enjoyed his job as an occupation transport expert, traveling over many counties. Richard enjoyed spending time with his buddies at the coffee shop every Saturday, bird watching and had a love for all animals. He most of all loved being with his grand and great-grand children.
He is survived by his children, Charles A (Benitta) Yearton, Richard S. (Monica) Yearton, Kimberly K. Medelberg; grandchildren, Jonathon A. (Hailey) Yearton, Victoria (Jonathan) Bourdon, Rene (Darren) Dubiel, Shawnae Yearton, Lauren (Adam Berg) Medelberg, Luke Medelberg, and 4 step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren; siblings Randy, Kenneth, Beatrice, Josephine, Linda and Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Janet; grandchild, Brandon Yearton; siblings, Daniel, Gary, William and Lydia.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00am until the 11:00am service at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave Woodstock, IL 60098. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
