Phyllis Reed

Phyllis Reed, age 96, of Woodstock, passed away October 1, 2023 at Valley Hi in Woodstock.

She was born on September 1, 1927 in Marengo to William and Ruth (Miner) Hansing. She married Russell Reed on September 19, 1979.

Phyllis worked for the Woodstock Autolite in Woodstock for many years.  After retirement, she traveled the world and volunteered at the Woodstock Clothing Closet.  She enjoyed bingo, sewing and puzzle solving.  She made many a wedding cake and was a talented artist. 

She is survived by her children, Linda (Ken) Konetski and Deb (Patrick) Howden; grandchildren, Griffen, Joe (Lindsay), Josh (Melissa) and Sarah (Tommy); great-grandchildren, Joshua, Auggie and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Russell; children, Donna Sweet, Ricky Sweet and Michael Sweet; siblings, June Sarbaugh, Robert Hansing and Darlene Sass.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 10:00am until the funeral service at 12:00pm at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney funeral home 1211 N. Seminary Ave Woodstock IL 60098. Pastor Amanda Bergstrom will officiate. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
