Michael J. Foley Obituary

Michael Joseph Foley, 75, of Woodstock, passed on the morning of May 8, 2022, in the company of his loving family.

Michael Joseph Foley was born in Elgin, IL., on Jan. 12, 1947, to Devona and Francis Joseph Foley. Mike learned to work hard and spent his life caring for the family farm alongside his parents and six siblings. He graduated from Marengo High School. After school, Mike was proud to serve two years in the United States Army, including time abroad in Korea from 1966 to 1968. Mike returned home to marry Linda Foley (nee Stone), the love of his life, on Feb. 13, 1971, and started his family in Woodstock, IL.

Mike found his calling when he started his career as a plumber, earning his license and establishing Woodstock Plumbing, serving the community for many years. In his work, Mike met and worked alongside so many members of the community. He would greet and catch up with them whenever and wherever their paths crossed. Mike took great pride in his work and his entire family. He enjoyed learning and playing various games with family and friends throughout his life. He was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Parish, a devout Catholic committed to charitable giving and helping anyone in need.

In retirement, Mike traveled the country with Linda and never missed a chance to attend his grandchildren’s games, concerts, and performances. Mike spent time hunting and fishing with good friends and was happy to be a member of the Bigfoot Archery Club.

Mike is survived by Linda, his wife of 51 years, his son Michael (Emily) of Grayslake, IL., and his daughter Leah (Matt) Wurz of Cottage Grove, WI.

Above all, Mike cherished his family and friends and took great joy in his grandchildren Owen and Will Foley, Lucinda and Amelia Wurz; siblings, Susann (Melvin) Steffen, Phillip (Ellen) Foley, Edward Foley, Bridgett (Walter) Prewett, Roberta (Robert) Dougherty and Ronald (Marisela) Foley; sisters-in-law, Pat (Dana) Mecum; brother-in-law, Bill Huebsch; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.
