Mark A. Hathorn, 70, of Morris, IL died peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2020, in Woodstock, IL at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, after suffering from ALS.
Mark was born in Morris, IL on December 21, 1949 to Merle A. and Grace (Peterson) Hathorn. He grew up in Lisbon, IL and spent most of his adult life in Morris. He served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1972. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and also had his own business, Hathorn Farm Drainage. Mark’s greatest joy was his family and his grandchildren. He loved to work outdoors and he loved to travel. He looked forward to visiting family in Florida and meeting family and friends for meals around Morris. Mark enjoyed doing stained glass art and lath art. His quiet nature, friendly smile and willingness to help characterized his life.
Mark is survived by his daughters Melissa (Todd) Manke of Woodstock IL, Jennifer Workman of Wellington, Florida, his son Matthew (Dana) Hathorn of Mazon, IL, grandchildren Madeline and Malainey Manke, Timothy, Marley and Hunter Workman and Memphis and Dillon Hathorn, his sister Rebecca (Peter) Meyer of rural Newark, IL, nieces and a nephew. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Grace Hathorn.
Cremation rites have been accorded through Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock, IL. Due to the current quarantine situation, a memorial service at West Lisbon Church, Newark, IL will be planned at a future time.
