Lois Ann Welke

Lois Ann Welke, age 79, entered eternal rest on January 7th, 2021 with her children at her side.

Lois was born and raised in McHenry, IL where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School. She graduated from McHenry High School where she enjoyed playing the flute and was active as a cheerleader and baton twirler. Her first job was at Kemper Financial in Chicago. She then began a 34 year career at Illinois Bell/Ameritech/SBC, working in Woodstock, Rockford and finally Arlington Heights.

In 1963 she married Ronald R. Welke, Sr., and had two children. As a family they enjoyed vacationing in the North Woods each year and creating life-long friends and memories.

Lois was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them (and they, with her). She met all of life's challenges with a quiet yet amazing strength. Her positivity, strength and resourcefulness were a constant throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cross stitch, card games, keeping an immaculate house and her beloved pets. One of her biggest joys was spending time with longtime, dear friends by sharing meals, coffee and being there for one another.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald R. Welke, Sr.; parents, Olive and Joseph May; and in­laws, Mary (Elmer) Clausen.

Lois is survived by her children, Ronald "Butch" R. Welke, Jr., and Krista Welke; sister, Joann (Bob) Kelley; brother in law, Ernest (Cyndy) Welke, and sister-in-law, Holly Welke.

A Celebration of Life will be held, date TBD.
