Laura Elena Castanon Esparza

Laura Elena Castanon Esparza, 67, of Harvard, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Mercy Riverside Hospital in Rockford.

She was born December 5, 1951 to Juan and Dolores (Barrlos) Castanon.  She married Salvador Esparza.

Laura was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Harvard, and had been employed as a nurse for 30 years.  She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading books, and spending time with her family.  Her greatest joy was in spoiling her granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband, Salvador Esparza of Harvard; two daughters, Mayra (Taoufik) Douich, Grace E. Gomez; a granddaughter, Laura Gomez; and godson, Victor Gonzalez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son in law, Raul Gomez.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Schneider Leucht Merwin Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am at the St. Joseph Church 206 E. Front Street, Harvard Illinois.  Interment will be private.
