Joyce Arlyne (Eckert) Rigby

Joyce Arlyne Rigby passed away peacefully in Crystal Lake, Illinois on January 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born January 25, 1929 in Woodstock, Illinois to Elmer and Lillie Eckert who preceded her in death as did her sister, Mary Perrachione and brother, Dr. Elmer Eckert, grandson Jacob Rigby and beloved husband, Benjamin Rigby.

She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1946 and attended Greg Business College in Chicago.  Joyce married Benjamin Rigby on May 7, 1949.  Survivors include four sons:  David (Kathie) of Johnsburg; Paul (Carol) of Glenview; John (Marla) of Woodstock; and Mark (Jennifer) of Woodstock.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; Benjamin, Kristin (Jesse Messerli), David (Lauren), Michael (Elizabeth), Stephen (Karis), Elizabeth (Greg Masching), Ryan (Jeff Mousty), Nicole Huiras, Jessie (Jay Justice)j, Amy, Christopher and 24 great-grandchildren.

Joyce was a member of the Woodstock Municipal Band from 1943-1957, sitting in the first chair of the clarinet section.  She represented Woodstock in the Miss Illinois Contest in 1946.  Joyce was an active Cub Scout Den-Mother for many years and a noon-hour aide at Clay St. School for over 30 years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodstock serving on the Board of Trustees, sang in the Choir and was Church Secretary for many years, a former member of the Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary, ER volunteer and chaired the Senior Reassurance Line for many years.  Joyce also served as an Election Judge for over 30 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and enjoyed winters in Bonita Springs, FL and summers volunteering at Timberlee Christian Center in East Troy, WI.  

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 2018 N. Rt 47, Woodstock on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service.
