Obituary

Jamie P. Smith, 68, of Hebron, Ill., died Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Jamie was born Sept. 3, 1954, the daughter of the late James Patrick and Frances (King) Smith. She grew up in Harwood Heights and Arlington Heights, and graduated from John Hersey High School and from the radiologic technology program at Harper College.

She worked as an x-ray technologist at a number of hospitals in northern Illinois, most recently at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

Jamie married John Altom on July 3, 1991.

She loved animals of all kinds, especially horses and dogs. She enjoyed traveling. She loved art and painting watercolors, and for many years met with friends for regular painting classes. She was a caring daughter to her late parents and a committed friend to those she met through her career and hobbies.

Jamie is survived by her devoted husband John; by her siblings Michael (Rubye) Smith, Maureen (Tom) Munz, Matthew (Debbie) Smith, Timothy (Julie) Smith and Deneen (Frank) Smith; and by her sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
