James A. White, 77, passed away Wednesday evening, April 28, 2021 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL. The son of Albert and Hilda (Hoch) White, he was born October 1, 1943, in Woodstock.
He married Eileen Loretta Homo at the First United Methodist Church in McHenry on March 26, 1966. Jim and Eileen began their marriage in Fort Knox, Kentucky where Jim served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated White’s Garage in Woodstock providing his community with great service which included the entire fleet of vehicles for the Woodstock Fire Department. Jim was a Scoutmaster for Troop 159 in Woodstock and shared his enormous love for the great outdoors on several backpacking trips in the “red Troop 159 bus”. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock, a photographer with the Royal Airs Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps where his wife marched in the color guard and an avid fisherman who loved a quiet morning on the water.
Jim is survived by his daughters Lynette (Jason) Carlock of Alexandria, Virginia; and Kristin (Josh) Cichocki of Alamosa, Colorado; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Carol (Henry) Stassen and Joyce (Clarence) Stackhouse of Woodstock; IL, Dolores (Wally) Johnson of Sycamore, IL; and a stepsister, Patricia Phelan of Palos Hills, IL.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, Eileen and his son Timothy J. White.
A celebration of life will be held when we can all safely gather.
