James P. Sheridan, age 74, of Algonquin, passed away November 11, 2021 at his home.
After graduation from high school, James entered the U.S. Army, completing basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and meteorological studies at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, whereupon he was then assigned to the Fourth Armored Division in Germany.
He attended City Colleges of Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was retired from municipal and state governmental service. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, the Fourth Armored Division Association and the American Legion Post 208 in Arlington Heights.
He loved to collect unique and odd items.
James is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Brei, and Mary Wood; nieces and nephews, John Bula, Karen Bula-Tapper, Leslie Coduti, Earl Dargert, Lisa Brei, William Key, Michelle Eddy, Allan C. Wood and Steven Wood.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents; brother, John Bula and sister, Geraldine Dargert.
A Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 11:00am until the service at 2:00pm at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N Seminary Ave Woodstock, IL 60098. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodstock.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, 312 Lincoln Ave Woodstock, Illinois.
