Isabel Schuette Obituary

Isabel “Mimi” Schuette, 87, of Woodstock, passed away on August 24, 2021 in Woodstock.  She was born Dec. 6, 1933 in Glen Ellyn, IL. Her family moved to West Salem, WI in 1945 and she graduated from West Salem High School in 1951.  Mimi received a B.A. in Education from La Crosse State (now UW – La Crosse), in 1955. 

In 1956 she married her husband William (Bill) Schuette in La Crosse, WI and in 1961 they moved to Woodstock, where they made their home for 60 years.

She taught kindergarten in District 200, Woodstock, IL for 22 years.  Mimi was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for many years.  She also belonged to the Auxiliary of Centegra Hospital, Woodstock.  She volunteered at the local food pantry, belonged to a local book club, and participated in several bible study groups through the years at St. Mary Parish. Mimi enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening and reading, and spent her summers at Grant Lake, Mercer, WI with family. Mimi and Bill also enjoyed traveling after retirement with relatives and friends, including Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe.

She is survived by her daughter Kris Schuette-Schneider (Dale Schneider), Waterford, WI; her sister, Helen Kennedy of Foster City, CA. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Lauren (Ryan) Kieckhaefer (Nolan and Rhys), Anna (Joe) Wiseman, and William Robbins, 2 step grandchildren, James (Kelly) Schneider, and Katy (Dan) Anheuser and 4 step great grandchildren (Rory, Alice, Hannah and Sophie). Eight nieces and nephews, Jeff (Leslie) Schuette, Cindy (Pat) Jacobs, Beth (Bob) Russell, Ed (Betsy) Schuette, Lianne (Hajib) Kennedy-Boudali, and Diane (Brian) Howard, David (Rose) Eckert, Don (Amy) Eckert, and 19 grand nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.

Mimi was preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother, Anthony Eckert, brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Nancy Schuette, brother-in-law, Arlen Kennedy.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Avenue, Woodstock on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 9:30 am until the 10:30 am Memorial Mass.  Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Woodstock.

Mimi and Bill were blessed with a wonderful family and friends, many of whom supported Mimi’s family during the last year.  The Schuette family wishes to thank all for their friendship and kindness during the last year.  Also, would like to thank Vitas Hospice and Eugene In Home Care, LLC for their kind and compassionate care of Mimi in the last 6 months of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the St. Mary Catholic Church; or St. Vincent DePaul Society at the Church.
