Hazel Church Obituary

Hazel M. Church 94, of Woodstock died Saturday August 4, 2018 at Centegra Hospital in Huntley.

She was born in Harvard on May 18, 1924 to Sanford and Georgia (Gallup) Sweet. She married Robert Church on April 24, 1946 in Woodstock. He passed away March 12, 1995.

She was a 50 year member at First United Methodist Church in Woodstock. She worked for many years as a painter at Woodstock Die Cast. She was a member at the local UAW, and a 50 year member of the Woodstock Moose.

Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother.  Her house was open to anyone at anytime.  Many family and friends would “drop by” to visit and enjoy her conversation.  She was known for her sense of humor, her love for the offerings of life, and devotion to family.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Dianne Reeves and Demaris (Paul) McNabb; a son, Alan (Mary) Church; 9 grandchildren, Michael (Lois) Casper, Andrea (David) Jones, Eli Reeves, Joel McNabb, Jeremy McNabb, James (Jamie) McNabb, Allyson (Bill) Landry, Robert Church, Annie Church and Danielle Gilman; 2 sisters, Geraldine Glass and Leona Bracher; also a brother in law, Ronald (Pat) Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; sisters Mary Bates, Sylvia DiPirro, Nellie Smith, Maude Kiltz, Olive Shenbarger, Sandra Jann; brothers Mark Sweet, Melvin Sweet and Bill Sweet.

The visitation will be Friday August 10, 2018 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at First United Methodist Church 201 W. South Street Woodstock. Interment will be in the McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
