Glenn Crandall Obituary

Glenn Crandall, 66, of Woodstock passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Centegra Hospital - McHenry.

He was born October 11, 1951 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin to Lyle “Glenn” and Margaret (Brooks) Crandall. He married Kathleen Woodward on Dec. 29, 1977 in Woodstock.

Glenn learned the restaurant trade by starting in the family business, Crandall’s Restaurant in Hebron.  He branched out on his own and opened Rumors Bar & Grill in Hebron.  He later opened D.C. Cobb in Woodstock and became a fixture in the downtown business district until his retirement.  In retirement, he worked for District 200 as a school bus driver.

From an early age, Glenn was a passionate and talented rock and roll bass player and was associated with several bands over the years.  Most notable were Black Water Gold, Bobby Heat & the Beat, The Rumor, and Hans and the Hormones.  Most recently, he was playing acoustic favorites with Dave Dalton and Pandora Waters.

He lent his knowledge of the music industry to others, such as the McHenry County Fair Association and the City of Woodstock where he helped organize entertainers for their events.  He was also instrumental in helping organize the Gaver’s Community Cancer Foundation Barn Dance to which he remained dedicated for the rest of his life.

Glenn is survived by two daughters, Jaime (Christopher) Ingeman and Kimberlin (Andrew) Reinhard; grandchildren, Elysa, Joshua and Rachel Ingeman and Brennan, Harrison, and Caroline Reinhard; siblings, Margaret “Peg” Stock, Tom Crandall; step siblings, Bob Crandall, Mark Crandall, Marty Crandall; his loving partner, Pandora Waters and her daughter, Athena Simmons; his step mother, Jeri Crandall; brother in law, Michael (Joyce Sedam) Woodward; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen in 2013; a brother, William Crandall; step sister, Delores “Candy” Horton; brother in law, Rick Stock; and father and mother in law, Robert and Dorothy Woodward.

A Celebration of Glenn’s Life will be held at Offsides Bar & Grill in Woodstock on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gaver’s Community Cancer Foundation PO Box 1724, Woodstock, IL 60098.
