Gene "Bud" Nauert Obituary

Gene L. "Bud" Nauert, age 70, of Woodstock, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. He was born on the 12th of November, 1950, in Chicago Illinois to his loving parents Gene N. and Lorida Nauert.

After graduating high school in Elk Grove in 1968, "Bud", as he was known to all of his many friends, attended Harper College in Palatine IL before finding his true career calling as an independent sales consultant. Bud excelled in this high stress field, and through his tireless efforts he was able to provide a comfortable life for his family that he loved while at the same time instilling a hard driven work ethic in his children whom he was so very proud of. Bud married the love of his life, Mary Lou, on August 5, 1973 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle. They had three children; Gene C (Michele), Matthew L (Ashley) and Katherine L (Joel) and grandchildren Tiffany, Jeremy and Evelynn.

In his spare time Bud enjoyed a myriad of activities including playing pool, fishing, traveling, woodworking, singing karaoke and cheering on the Blackhawks, Bears and Cubs. His favorite thing to do though, was playing a round or two of golf and he proudly displayed his "hole-in-one" ball for everyone to see. He was always the life of the party and if you didn't have a smile on your face he would put one there by telling a joke or making some humorous observation. He could make you laugh at a funeral (which many who read this have experienced literally when he was around, much to the ire of some in attendance) and his hearty laugh would boom throughout any room he was in. He was a man of great faith, actively serving on the Board of Trustees and as the Chairman of the Elders at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woodstock. His kind heart was always on display with the way he loved and cared for the many animals that he rescued. Although unable to serve in the military, Bud loved his country and was extremely patriotic. He never shied away from letting anyone know his opinion on the state of the country or, for that matter, any other thing that he was passionate about.

He is survived by his loving wife, children and grandchildren along with his mother, brother Michael (Pam), sister Darlene (Kurt) and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, whom he missed very much, Gene N Nauert.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock from 3-7 pm. The family welcomes all of Bud's friends and family to come celebrate his life and pay their final respects.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Helping Paws Animal Shelter or St. John's Lutheran Church.
