Eugene A. Boppart

Eugene A. Boppart, 82, of Harvard, passed away October 2, 2023 at his home.

He was born on January 29, 1941 in Richmond, IL, the son of John and Clara (May) Boppart.

He married Joanne Howard on June 13, 1964 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hartland, IL, graduated from the University of Illinois and worked as a food scientist for Quaker Oats until his retirement. 

When Eugene was young he worked with his family on the farm. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening, making his own wine, bowling, and running. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, and taking them on many special family vacations.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne; his children, Gina (Jim) McConoughey, Michelle Boppart and Howard (Gina) Boppart; grandchildren, Elizabeth McConoughey, Spencer (Rachel) Ocean, James (Nicole) Militello, Mary (David) Ferlmann, Johannes Boppart, Luke Boppart, Anna (Owen) Jones and Eli Boppart; great-grandchild, Avery Militello; sisters, Marilyn Hall, Phyllis Boppart, Betty Boppart and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Loren and Irvin Boppart.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00am until the funeral mass at 12:00pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Hartland 15012 St. Patrick Rd., Woodstock IL 60098. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
