Donald Wendt Obituary

Donald G. Wendt, age 94, of Woodstock, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Barrington on February 22, 1927 to Charles and Dorothy (Gilly) Wendt. He married Theresa Hoban on May 10, 1952 in Dixon, Illinois.

Don worked for 32 years at Commonwealth Edison becoming a crew leader. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking, furniture repair and fixing antiques from his wife’s shop in Ridgefield. He loved to play golf and work at Marengo Ridge Golf Course.

He was a member of The Moose in both Harvard and Woodstock. He was involved in the Lion’s Club in Woodstock and the Harvard Sportsman’s Club. He was loved by all that knew him and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 70 wonderful years, Theresa Wendt; a son Kurt (Joy) Wendt; two grandchildren Kara Lay and Tyler (Lindsey) Wendt; four adored Great Grandchildren; a daughter in Law Terrie Wendt and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wendt Jr.; a daughter Deborah; two brothers and a sister.

A service is being planned for a later date.
