Charles B. Naugle

Charles Buddy Naugle, 86, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, peacefully at home.  He was born on March 5, 1936, to the late Morris (Minnie) Naugle in Rockford, Illinois.  He married the love of his life Phyllis J Hemmingsen on April 18, 1959; and celebrated their 63rd anniversary last year.

Charles worked in the Local #17 where he covered pipes for 30 years.  Prior to that, he also worked at the Marengo Post Office and Techalloy in Union, Illinois.  He attended Zion Lutheran School and Marengo Community High School.  Charles spent many years doing various woodworking projects.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.  After retiring, he and Phyllis moved down to Missouri until health issues brought them back to Rockford.

He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Minnie Naugle, stepparents Neil and Clara Tobin; brother Gerald Naugle, Jesse and Rose Hemmingson, Dick (Alice) Wagner, and Harold Knake.

Charles is survived by is wife, Phyllis,; children, Julie (Jeff) Hartwig, Betty Frohling, Steven (Donna) Naugle, Paul (Melissa) Naugle; his grandchildren Dr. Michelle (Brian) Gee, Crystal Graff, Amanda Lacher, Jessica (Jim) Fitzgerald, Brian Naugle, Edward (Meghan) Naugle, Ian and Alexander Naugle; great-grandchildren Kennedy, Caroline, Hunter, Adalyn Gee, Chloe, Natalie Graff, Joseph Lacher, Kyle, Curtis Fitzgerald, Carter, Isaiah Naugle; brothers Richard Naugle, Larry Tobin, sister Gloria (Bill) Haynes; and sister-in-law Patsy Knake. 

Visitation will be held on January 27, 2023, from 9 to 11 am, with services following at New Life Lutheran Church, 1100 Lyford Rd, Rockford IL 61107.   Luncheon will be served at the church after the service. Interment to take place approximately 2:15 pm at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock IL. 

In lieu of flowers due to family health concerns, donations may be made to New Life Lutheran Church.
