Catherine "Cathy" Flood

Catherine "Cathy" Platero Flood passed away on June 4, 2021 at the age of 60, in her home in Woodstock, Illinois.

Cathy was born on November 29, 1960 in Quezon City, Philippines to Mayland and Carolina Flood. She moved to New Orleans, LA in 1977, where she graduated from Seton Academy High School in 1978. She continued her education at Delgado Community College, where she obtained an Associates Degree in Business & Communications. In 2005, Cathy relocated to Woodstock, IL due to Hurricane Katrina. Cathy held a career in medical billing in New Orleans and continued her career in Elgin, IL until illness prevented her from returning to work.

Cathy will be lovingly remembered by her brother Mayland Jr., her sister Cynthia, her nephew Richard (Sonia), her niece and goddaughter Elizabeth “Liz” (Terry), and her recently born great­-nephew Kent. She was preceded by her mother Carolina, father Mayland, brother William, and nephew Joseph.

Cathy was a committed caretaker and legal guardian to her brother William's three children. She fought for these children, as if her own. She was a driving force in their success. She was proud of Richard's career as an attorney and Liz's as a banking executive.

Cathy's positive outlook and cheerful smile will be missed. She was a compassionate citizen during her time in New Orleans as an involved parishioner with Sacred Heart Church and regularly participated in the Crescent City Classic. She enjoyed traveling and fortunately had the opportunity to visit the Bahamas. She also shared her kindness with her various pets, including both dogs and cats, throughout the years. She will be missed by Sadie, Elvis, and It.

Visitation service will be begin at 10:00am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home at 1211 North Seminary Avenue in Woodstock, Illinois, and the funeral service will follow at 1:00pm.
