Carol Mazan Obituary

Carol E. (Felgen) Mazan, 65, passed away at home on September 24, 2022 with her family by her side after a courageous 14-year battle with breast cancer.

Carol was born December 15, 1956 in Oak Park IL to Tom and Mary Ruth Felgen. She was a 1975 graduate of Harvard High School and the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award winner.

Carol married the love of her life for the last 25 years, Jim Mazan on December 2, 2013.

Carol was a natural born caregiver. Early in her working career she loved helping care for the babies at Harvard Hospital and at the end of her working career the clients at the Pioneer Center group home in Harvard.

When not working she could be found in her sewing room where she made the most beautiful quilts. Her family will miss the magnificent pies she baked and her sense of humor. "That's going to itch when it dries." She also enjoyed traveling and doting on her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Mazan; daughters, Allison (Michael) Popeleski of Fairfax, Vt and Sarah (Barry) Mason of Ottawa, IL; son, Thomas (Ashley) Berry of Machesney Park, IL and stepdaughter, April (Raymond) Fong of Gurnee, IL. Grandchildren, Kyran Mason, Shae Mason, Anna Popeleski, Lenore Berry, Lily Fong and Lucy Fong. Father, Tom (Jane) Felgen.

She was preceded in death by mother, Mary Ruth Lumkes and stepfather, Arthur Lumkes.

As were her wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.
