Carl Borchardt Jr. Obituary

Carl H. Borchardt Jr, age 88, of Wonder Lake, passed away January 31, 2023.

He was born in Chicago on June 22, 1934, the son of Carl Sr. and Eleanor (Thau) Borchardt. He married Shirley A. Richardsen on February 6th 1954 and have been married for almost 69 years.

Carl lived in Wonder Lake for 65 years and enjoyed raising his family there.  He was a businessman and hobby farmer. He was a local contractor in the area with his insulation business. He loved a good joke and was a prankster with his family and friends. He scheduled things around his “lunch with the boys” each day.  When his sons were in school, he attended their wrestling meets as well as helping the coaches in Woodstock.  He was also involved in 4-H with his sons and raised cattle on the “Mini Farm”.  Carl belonged to the CAATS Car Club in Woodstock and was most proud of his 1966 T-Bird Convertible.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Jeffery (Mary), Robin (Sherry), Randal (Shannon) Todd (Jean) and Keith (Lisa) Borchardt, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Borchardt.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 11am until 2pm at Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N Seminary Ave Woodstock IL 60098.

Burial will be Sunday at 10:30 am at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock, IL.
