Beverly Mae Downing

Beverly Mae Downing, 82, passed away on December 4, 2022 at Northwestern Medical in Huntley.

She was born May 31, 1940 in Woodstock, the daughter of Maurice and Flora (Pinnow) Skinner.  She married Dale Edward Downing on April 18, 1959.  At the time of Dale’s passing, they had been married 55 years.

She started working with her mother at the age of 8 in the popcorn and cotton candy wagon for Skinner Amusements.  She continued the tradition and maintained her own wagons until 2013.  She loved working the wagons and seeing all the people.

They always had people visiting.  People would stop by all the time and they would stop what they were doing and make them feel welcome. There was always activity going on at the home.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved cooking for everyone.

They loved going to Anna Marie Island in Florida for the winters.  They had many friends everywhere.

She is survived by two daughters, Debra (Chuck) Perenchio and Denise (Richard) Riggs; grandchildren, Josh (Courtney) Widmayer, Katie (Chris) Olson, Amy (Rudy) Torres, Brian (Lorena) Riggs, Stephanie (Artem) Ozerov; a brother, Douglas (Patricia) Skinner; a sister, Linda (Daniel) Hermanson; also, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; her son, Bradley; a granddaughter, Ashley; her sisters, Jeanette and Marilyn.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 12:00 pm until the 1:00 pm Funeral Service at the Schneider Leucht Merwin Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock.  Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery in Woodstock.
