Betty R. Wagner of Woodstock passed away on Thursday March 17, 2022.
She was born in McHenry on January 2, 1933 to Anton and Margaret (Freund) Schmitt. She married Robert Wagner on June 26, 1954.
She enjoyed traveling to other states and going camping along the way. She would often be reading magazines and doing embroidery in the boat while Bob was fishing. Betty always made the holidays special with tiny decorations throughout her house and often little treats for everyone. When her daughters were young, she was the brownie leader at St. Mary school for 7 years. She was interested in photography and genealogy and took family pictures for many years at the Schmitt and Kline family reunions. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always ready for the next big adventure.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Gary) Gyssler, Janet (Tom) Leiker, Diane (Andy) Madsen; grandchildren, Alan (Kim) Gyssler, Grant (Megan) Gyssler, Ashley (Brian) Edwards, Rhiannon (Nate) Terpstra, Shannon (Jake) Combs, John (Kelli) Leiker, Diana Leiker, Patrick (Allison) Leiker; great grandchildren, Emmett, Eleanor, Brandon, Lucy, Tessa, Blake, Joliene, Kiera, Lorelei, William, Nora, Finn, Cove; three sisters, Jean Vogel, Phyllis White and Joyce (Axel) Schwanke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Gordon (Ginnie) Schmitt.
The funeral mass and interment services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois.
