Betty J. Sarbaugh, 87, formerly of Woodstock, passed away peacefully Wednesday June 30, 2021, at her home in Belvidere surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Freeport on January 13, 1934, to Roy Henry Dreier and Florence Edith (Geisemann) Dreier. She married Richard (Ole) Sarbaugh on September 18, 1954, in Rockford.
She worked for over 30 years as a dedicated teacher in District 200. In her spare time, she loved doing crafts and working in her garden. She had a passion to travel and was fortunate to visit many places. She enjoyed gathering with her dominos club and was a diehard Cubs fan. The thing she most enjoyed in her life was spending as much time with her family. She was loved and will be surely missed.
She is survived by a son Randy (Lori) Sarbaugh; two daughters Vickie (Tim) Sherwin and Natalie (Scott) Schmid; nine grandchildren Brett (Sarah) Sarbaugh, Renee (Chris) Marvel, Craig Sarbaugh, Courtney Sherwin, Benjamin (Sarah) Sherwin, Bridget (Will) Yohan, Brittney (Joshua) Pagan, Rachel (Keith) Montoya, Jacob Schmid; a sister Sally McGinnis; also sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard of 48 years; and a brother Eugene Dreier.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock from 10:00 am until the 12:00 noon Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to JourneyCare Hospice or favorite charity of the donor’s choice.
