Barbara Gehrke

Barbara A. Gehrke, 76, of Woodstock, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Ignite Medical Resort in McHenry.

She was born in Jacksonville, Fl on February 14, 1947 to Ben C. Wall and Anna (Ross) Siefferman. She married James Gehrke on June 4, 1966.

She was a Life Member of the Woodstock VFW Post 5040, in the women’s auxiliary. Barb was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and active in many church clubs. She worked as a chef at the Woodstock Country Club and Pub House and Inn in Woodstock. She also worked as a hair stylist. She offered home day care for many children over the years. She and her husband were avid bowlers participating in many leagues.

She is survived by her husband James; two sons, Alan Gehrke and Daniel Gehrke; a daughter, Jessica( Tom) Fike; three grandchildren, Joseph and Angela Rathbone, Steven Bryan; a brother, Blair (Marion) Siefferman and two sisters, Anita Thompson and Victoria (Paul) Haines as well as a sister in law, Christine Gehrke and Helen Wall; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Lester Siefferman; a brother, Ben Wall; her in-laws, Louis and Ruth Gehrke; daughter-in-law, Rosalynd Gehrke and brother-in-law Charles Gehrke.

A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 10:00am until the 11:00am funeral service at Grace Lutheran Church 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Rd Woodstock Il 60098.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Transitions Hospice 3010 Forest View Rd., Rockford, IL 61109.
