August "Augie" Roepke

August H. “Augie” Roepke, 78, of Shorewood, formerly of Woodstock, passed away on December 13, 2020.

He was born August 9, 1942 in Chicago to Henry A. and Josephine Mary (Alexa) Roepke.  He married Shirley Ann Louise Beutler on September 4, 1965 in Toledo, Ohio.

Augie loved watching his grandkids compete in sporting events.  He tried to never miss an event, and could be heard cheering from the stands.  He had retired from Nicor Gas, and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Tyrone) Isaac of Shorewood and Diane Loftin of Woodstock; grandchildren, Ty Isaac, Taylor Isaac, Brian Loftin II, Cannon Sternitzky and Avery Sternitzky. Augie’s family would also like to  thank Maureen Powers for the friendship, care, and compassion she showed Augie over the last several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley in 2006; brothers, Henry and Charles Roepke; and an infant daughter, Barbara.

Due to the virus, there will be no public services at this time.  Interment services will be private.  A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
