Ryan M. Hanson, 18, of Woodstock, passed away on September 4, 2017.

He was born September 24, 1998 in Barrington to Michael R. Hanson and Lori A. (nee) Carr.

Ryan or “Mr. Literal” as he was known was a very accomplished young man.  A self-taught musician, he enjoyed playing the guitar.  He loved scouting, and was a member of Wonder Lake Boy Scout Troop 456 from kindergarten until he attained Eagle Scout.  He graduated eighth in his class at Woodstock North High School in 2017 where he earned high honors all 4 years. At Woodstock North, he was a member of the Math Team and Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE).  He was a State finalist with the Math Team and Wyse 4 years in a row.  In addition to the Math Team, he was a member of the Cross Country Team, Tennis Team, and Track & Field.  He was a master of disguise, and amateur videographer.

Most recently, he was enrolled in the Pathways Engineering program at MCC and the University of Illinois, tackling a double major in computer engineering and mathematics.

He is survived by his parents, Michael R. Hanson and Lori A. Hanson; two sisters, Samantha Rae Hanson, and Rachel Ann Hanson.  His aunts and uncles, Kathy & Gary Grube, Linda & Steve Lettecci, Pam & Marty Summerfelt, Jennifer & Nick Max (his Godmother), Lonnie & Michelle Carr Jr., Tony & Angie Carr, and Ricki Carr (his Godfather). His grandparents, Robert & Deanna Hanson, and Lonnie & Kelley Carr Sr.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, good friends, and his girlfriend, Rhianna Storti.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, and his grandmother, Kathleen Carr.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  The visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday September 9, 2017 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service.

Interment services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the BlackHawk Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, 2820 McFarlan Rd., Rockford IL 61107.
