Rosemary Gancar Obituary

Rosemary Gancar, age 95, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at her residence in Mt. Sterling, KY. 

She was a 70 year resident of Woodstock, Illinois before she and her husband moved to Nebraska to be nearer family.  Rosemary was the daughter of George and Margaret Stoffel.  She married J. William Gancar in 1945 and they celebrated 59 years together.  They were blessed with two children, Claudia Blauer and William G. Gancar, both of Mt. Sterling, KY.  She was a veteran of WWII serving as a flight line mechanic with the United States Army Air Corp. 

She was active on a number of civic and governmental bodies for the city of Woodstock and was a familiar figure at the McHenry County courthouse for 23 years as a record researcher for the McHenry County Title Company. After retiring in 1983 she and her husband enjoyed traveling in many parts of the world, sightseeing in Europe, Central America, riding camels in India and elephants in Thailand.  She remained active in charity work, delivering Meals on Wheels and helping build houses with Habitat for Humanity. 

Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, her husband in 2004 and her sister, Betty Bruder.

A graveside service will by held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Oakland Cemetery, Woodstock, Illinois.
