Robert Unglaube

Robert Unglaube, age 74, of Woodstock, passed away December 31, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock, IL after a short battle with cancer. He was born February 4, 1944 to Carl and Magdelene (Bruder) Unglaube. Robert grew up in Milwaukee and started at Carthage College in 1962. It was at Carthage College in 1963 that he first met the love of his life, Beverly. They married and recently celebrated 51 years together.

They moved to Woodstock, Illinois to start their careers in teaching and begin their family. Robert was a 7th Grade Social Studies teacher at Northwood Middle School for 34 years and during achieved his master’s degree at Northern Illinois University. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over 30 years. After his retirement he worked for G. Schmitz delivering new cars to journalists, publicists and many special events around the United States. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and skiing. Throughout his life he continued his love of history, collecting model airplanes and cars, reading, watching the history channel and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

He was a fun, loving, happy man and always the life of the party. He loved and cherished his family and friends. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father and his memory will be held dear by all those that knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Beverly, his children, Chris (Dara) Unglaube and Becky (Dan) Solley; brothers, Carl “Bill” Unglaube and James “Jim” (La Rue) Unglaube, many nieces and nephews and many very close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Carol Unglaube.

There will be a gathering of friends and relatives on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Rd., Woodstock IL 60098. The gathering will continue on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church from 10:00 am until the Memorial Service at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow. Inurnment services will be private.

In Bob's honor, flowers may be sent to the service at Grace Lutheran Church; or memorials may be made in his name to Grace Lutheran Church, or the American Cancer Society, or JourneyCare Hospice of Woodstock.
