Welcome to the memorial page for

Philip J. Woznicki

April 14, 1951 ~ September 1, 2017 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Heaven has what our hearts still hold- a legacy of faith, hope, and love. Phil took his last “road trip” to meet his Savior on Friday, September 1, 2017, age 66.

Philip Joseph Woznicki was born in Chicago on April 14, 1951 to Lawrence and Anne (Carty) Woznicki. On August 24, 1974 he married the love of his life, Sandra E. Salvo.

His life was dedicated to helping others. Phil devoted over 45 years to a career in special education, retiring from NSSEO (Kirk School).  After retiring, he continued to work at McHenry High Schools and Sunrise Lake Outdoor Education Center. He served as a volunteer for McHenry County Conservation District in many capacities. He recently began volunteering for PADS in Woodstock.

Phil enjoyed the outdoors: hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, and snowshoeing. He loved taking his family “Up North” every year, always finding a new waterfall to explore. Highlights of his retirement years included taking road trips with friends and stargazing. When he had extra time, he loved to read history, geography, and his favorite Louis L'Amour books.

Survivors include: his wife, Sandra; he was a loving father to, Heather (William) Yoder, Elizabeth (Brian) Bergren, Kathleen Woznicki, Maggie Woznicki (Drew Van Winkle); 4 grandchildren, Wyatt and Aubrey Yoder, Caiden and Elizabeth Bergren; siblings, Patricia (Jack) Knapp, Margaret Major, Lawrence (Laurie) Woznicki, Diana Woznicki; and many other family members and countless friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael (Isabella) Woznicki.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Sunday, September 17 at Pleasant Valley Conservation District Amphitheater and Shelter 2. Visitation will be from 11am – 3pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service. Family requests that you dress for the weather and bring lawn chairs.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Phil Woznicki Memorial Fund at BMO Harris Bank in Woodstock. Contributions will support organizations that Phil loved.
