Patricia Elois McCandlish Walsh Norton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Elois McCandlish Walsh Norton, 71, of Wonder Lake.  She passed away on September 12, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Patt was born in Woodstock on November 15, 1945 to Walter and Doris (Painsipp) McCandlish.  After her father died she was adopted by Joe Walsh.

In 1963, she graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock. On July 9, 1966 she married her high school sweetheart Sidney Norton in Wonder Lake.

She worked at Oak Industries for many years, from there she worked at the U.S. Post Office until she retired in 2008.  Patt was an avid bingo player and loved her bowling league with her dear friend Maryann. She also enjoyed stock car racing with her family for many years. Patt helped start the pigtail league in McHenry and was also a member of the Evangelical Church in Ringwood where she taught youth groups.

She is survived by her loving husband, Sidney Norton; two wonderful children, Andrea (Joel) Replogle, and Scott Norton. Her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, David, and John Replogle; two sisters, Pam (Robert) Conour, and Johanna (James) Richards; also many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; wonderful father, Joe Walsh, and her faithful companion, her dog Jade.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, Cheyenne and the diamond team from Journey Care Hospice for their wonderful care and support. Also, her dedicated and self-­sacrificing caregiver of many years, Mandy Mitchell.  Without Mandy, her staying at home on this journey would have been impossible. Patt will be greatly missed but will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace.

Visitation will be at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 19th at 11:00 am with Pastor Matt McCloud presiding.  Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Patricia's name may be made to JourneyCare Hospice, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
