Michael Jakic

Michael Jakic, 69, of Woodstock, passed away with his wife by his side on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the James A. Lovell Health Care Center Green House in North Chicago.

Michael was born April 10, 1949 In Bonlitz Germany to Stanko and Adeline Jakic.  He married Dawn E. Tibbitts on October 10, 1970.   Michael was a veteran, serving in the US Army in VietNam.  He was a carpenter-custom stair installer by trade, and had worked for RDG, Fox Valley Stair Company and Cooper Stair Company.  Michael enjoyed working on his 1962 Chevy Impala, riding his motorcycle, and riding his favorite horse Boone at Braveheart.

Michael is survived by his wife, Dawn E. Jakic of Woodstock; sons, Christopher Jakic of Woodstock, Ryan (Roberta) Jakic of Lake Geneva; grandchildren, Alexanda (Zackary) Gonsoulin, Tabitha Jakic, Samantha Jakic, Serena Jakic, William Jakic; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Gonsoulin; brother and sister in law, Leo "Lee" & Patricia Tibbitts Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his adopted family, Jean (Jerry) Holmes, Charles (Chris) Braun, John Braun, Joanne Paul, Ronald (Leslie) Braun, Richard (Sue) Braun, Tracey (Mike) Behrens, Steve (Doreen) Braun.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Michelle D. Jakic; a sister, Barbara H. Schelter; his in laws, Leo L. and Minnie K. Tibbitts.   

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock.  The visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service.  Interment will follow in the Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michelle D. Jakic Memorial Fund to benefit Veterans and their families.
