July 18, 1928 ~ July 26, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years OldMary A. Merritt, 89 of Woodstock, Ill., formerly of Forest, died Friday July 26, 2017 at Hearthstone Manor nursing home in Woodstock.
Mary was born July 18, 1928 in Springfield, IL. to Helen Ida North Hirsh and David Arnold Hirsh.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Merritt; her parents; and her step-father, Claude Emerson of Springfield.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynda (Greg) Wisinski of Woodstock; two grandsons, Michael (Keisha) Wisinski of Woodstock, David (Estee) Wisinski of Tyrone, Ga., as well as her niece, Ann (Francis) Duchi of Montague, CA, and three nephews, Charles (Lisa) Merritt of Durham, NC., Jon (Cathy) Merritt of Tucson, AZ. and David (Kathleen) Merritt of Portland, OR. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Mary was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Gov. Thomas Ford Chapter of Illinois. She was also a member of the Forrest United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed playing Bridge, as well as sewing and knitting to make gifts for others, and painting with oil paints.
A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery near Saybrook, Il.
Memorial donations may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, and Journey Care Hospice of Illinois.
