Lois Goins Obituary

Lois Irene Goins, 93, of Woodstock passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at her home.

She was born March 11, 1925 in Huntley to Dwight and Ruth (Lawson) Johnson. In 1949 she married Dr. Robert Edwin Goins, who preceded her in death.

She spent her childhood in Huntley, enjoying such things as dancing and tap dancing, which would remain a passion all of her life. She was a graduate of Huntley High School.

She worked at an Air Force Base as a "Rosie the Riveter," and later worked at the Woodstock Autolite in payroll until the birth of her youngest child. During her life, she was a volunteer with the Women's Hospital Auxiliary, which provided services to the Woodstock Hospital by way of the Gift Shop and in other ways. She also enthusiastically assisted her husband, Robert, and son, Rick, in their Chiropractic practice.

With her first love and first priority being our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Lois was a faithful church-goer until she could no longer drive. She continued in her devotion to the Lord by doing daily devotionals and reading her Bible. She was a loving mother to Kelly Goins (Nancy), Rick Goins (Evelyn), and Debra (Goins) Varga.

She is survived by her children, Rick and Debra; five grandsons, Cody (Mollie) Goins, Wyatt Goins, Lucas Goins, Noah Goins, and Nathan Varga; her brother, Wendell Johnson and countless nieces and nephews. Lois never met a stranger and loved to chat with family and friends alike. Known for her trademark hats, she was never seen outside her home without one. Thank you to JourneyCare, the hospice which provided gentle and caring service to her and guidance to her family, Lois will be sorely missed by her family and everyone whose life she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her son, Kelly, her parents, and a brother, Charles, and a sister, Velma.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am at the Schneider Leucht Merwin and Cooney Funeral Horne, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock.  Interment will follow in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
