Karen L. Scimeca

Karen L. Scimeca 58, of Woodstock passed away Sunday November 19, 2017 at her home in Woodstock surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Evanston on January 14, 1959 to Robert James and Mary Ann (Burgess) Schumer. She married Timothy Scimeca on March 5, 1988. Together they spent 29 happy years. During those years they had two children.

For many years she worked as a clerk in the McHenry County Circuit Court Office in Woodstock. On a typical day you could either find her watching a classic movie or with her nose in a book. She had a passion for horses, whether she was out horseback riding or just watching the horses at Arlington Racetrack. She also loved spending time at Lake Michigan where she made many memories as a child and as an adult. But mostly she enjoyed quality time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Timothy; her mother Mary Ann Schumer; a son James "Jake" R. Scimeca; daughter Kathleen "Katie" L. Scimeca; a sister Janet McCauley; a step son Jason V. Scimeca.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, also Robert James Schumer.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held Monday November 27, 2017 from 3:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 5:30 pm at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home1211 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock. Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
