Jonathan Scott Cundiff

Jonathan Scott Cundiff, 32, of Woodstock, IL, passed away Monday February 26, 2018. 

Jonathan was born January 3, 1986 to Anton Cundiff and Lori Lilja.  

Jonathan served as an Air Assault qualified Military Police Officer with the 194th MP Co. in the US Active Army from 2004 to 2008.  He received an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Specialist.   During his enlistment he was deployed for one tour to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jon strongly believed that it was his military duty to protect the defenseless.   The relationships that Jon built during his service remained an important part of his life during the years after his enlistment.

 Jon will be remembered for his easy going nature and his infectious smile. He was an avid paintball player and through the years competed for numerous traveling teams.  He also enjoyed trap shooting with his grandfather and was known to have a pretty good aim.  In his free time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and the outdoors. 

Jon will be remembered for his kind spirit and his love of his family. Jon’s greatest loves in life were his two children, Alulah and Noah. 

 Jonathan is survived by his daughter Alulah Morgan Cundiff and son Noah Jonathan Cundiff; his brothers, Jacob (Jennifer), Joshua, Tyler, and Jeremiah; parents, Anton (Kim) Cundiff and Lori Lilja, maternal grandparents, Harold and Beverly Lilja and paternal grandmother, Ingeborg Cundiff; nieces, Jessa and Brynn; nephew, Nicoli; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service to take place at 6:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to the family to establish a college fund for his children.
