James Anthony Barrett

     James Anthony Barrett died July 9th, 2017 in McAllen, TX of Pneumonia. 
     James was born January 8, 1936 in Elgin IL to William J. Barrett and Rose M. Cafferty. James grew up in Woodstock, IL completing his education at St. Mary’s. James was legally deaf yet was able to receive degrees from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC and Southern Illinois University. James never married and spent most of his professional life as a teacher in IL and TX. He will be missed by family members and his former students.  
     James is survived by two brothers - Michael (Kathryn) of Aurora, IL and John of Woodstock, IL, a sister-in-law Sally Barrett of Stuart, FL as well as the following nieces and nephews: William Barrett and Susan Lee of Florida, Maureen (Mark) McNicholas and Elizabeth (Thomas) Stibbe of Naperville, IL, Patrick (Elise) Barrett of Durham, NC, Margaret (Blake) Chapin of Scottsdale AZ, and Barbara (James) Cook of Effingham, IL.
     James was preceded in death by his parents and his brother William J. Barrett.
     A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle’s Church in Naperville, IL at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with Fr. Philip Danaher presiding assisted by Deacon Michael Barrett, brother of deceased. Private intermit to follow later at Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock, IL.
     Thanks to the staff at Retama Manor and the McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, TX for their dedicated care of James.
