Gloria Jean (Rutherford) Kosek

Gloria Jean Kosek, 93, Woodstock, passed away on December 28, 2017 at Hearthstone Manor.

She was born August 31, 1924, the only child of Jess and Hazel Rutherford, in Woodstock. She graduated from Woodstock High School and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. After raising her children, she worked for Dr. Stahlecker and later Dr. Abando from 1965 to 1990. Upon retirement she moved to Florida, where she lived until moving to Hearthstone in 2007.

She will always be remembered as a loving daughter, mother and grandmother who took great joy in gathering the family for holiday activities. She also loved boating on Lauderdale Lakes, where she lived for many years before retirement as well as extensive traveling throughout the world.

Survivors include her two children, Sandy (Jim) Walkington and Dan (Linda) Hermanson; three grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Hermanson, Stacie (Joe) Groves, and Jill Crawford (Alex Preston) as well as five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Ave. Woodstock.  Interment in the Scandanavia Cemetery will be private.

Memorials may be given to Hearthstone Manor or Journeycare.
