George A. Grasley, age 92, of Woodstock, passed away Sunday September 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 4, 1926 in Birchwood WI., to Harry and Stella (Olmsteadt) Grasley. He married Joyce Kirchman in November 1946. He then married Doris Jones in February 1982.
George was a United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII aboard the USS Raleigh; seeing action in the Battle for Okinawa. He was an owner of a printing company in Marengo. George was a member at Zion Lutheran Church as well as Trinity Lutheran Church, Harvard and was a custodian at Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with family.
He was survived by his children, Wanda (Neil) McKinnell, Robert (Cheryl) Grasley, Keith (Carol) Grasley, Chris (Peggy) Grasley and Martin (Janet) Grasley; step-children, Tom (Carol) Jones, Bill (Donna) Jones, John (Dorothy) Jones and Linnea (Steve) Kinney; siblings, Ruth Daul, Henry (Patsy) Grasley, Frederick (Diana) Grasley and Allan (Kris) Grasley and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and a brother Harry.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 10:00am until the service at 11:00am at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Woodstock IL 60098. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park Cemetery.
