Eric Johnson Obituary

Eric Lynn Johnson of Capron, Illinois died in his home February 19, 2018.

Eric, son of James R. Johnson and Dona M. (nee Dana) Johnson, was born December 22, 1955 in Woodstock, Illinois.

He was raised by his grandmother, Helen Johnson, of Woodstock and graduated from Woodstock Community High School in 1974. His 1976 marriage to Susan Habbley ended in late 1977. His 1990 marriage to Deborah Cummings Chevopulous ended in divorce but they maintained a friendship until the time of his death.

Eric had a varied career life in the fields of construction, transport, mechanical operation and repair. He was a perpetual learner, fascinated by anything to do with science, wildlife and Star Wars. Although he was a loner, Eric could talk for hours about almost any topic and he was also generous to those in need.

Survivors include: father, James Johnson (Judy) of Woodstock; half-brother, Lance Johnson (Deborah) of Rockford; half-sister, Babzett Sherfield (Randolph) of Woodstock: nephew, Matthew Sorenson of Woodstock; three half-siblings from his mother’s second marriage; and aunt, Hannah (Bonnie) Dana of Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dona Tischendorf Borchert, formerly of Waupaca, Wisconsin.

Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home is serving the family. As per Eric’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. His cremains will be interred in the Greenwood Cemetery, Woodstock, Illinois.
