Donna L. Strain, 91, died peacefully on April 12, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born December 10, 1926, in Bryant, South Dakota, the daughter of the late Thomas and Fern (Miller) Boyd. On April 22, 1949 she married James H. Strain in Huron, South Dakota.
Donna and James owned and operated the Pantry Delicatessen for over 26 years. She also worked for many years as a cosmetologist\esthetician at the House of Hair in Woodstock.
Mrs. Strain is survived by her two sons, Charles (Carol) Strain of Henderson, NV and Douglas Strain of McHenry; three daughters, Kathryn (John) Cole, Marsha Giles of Woodstock and Rosemary McKay of Noblesville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Zoran) Cetusic and Erin (Brian) Benak both of Indiana; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandchildren, Howie Giles and Candice Cole; two brothers, William and Hugh Boyd; and one sister Justine Kerbel.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church 312 Lincoln Avenue, Woodstock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary Catholic Church would be appreciated.
