Cheryl Ann Gould, 70, of Woodstock IL, peacefully passed away Monday November 27, 2017 surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born June 7, 1946 to Jack and Ernestine Holloway.

Cheri is survived by her husband of fifty one years, Dan. Daughters; Tamara Gould-Buss, Laura (Matt) Gould-Colangelo, and Katie (Dan Hart) Day. Grandchildren; Walter, Nathaniel, Graham, Margaret, Jacob, Kelsey, Daniel, Zoie, Lola, and Maddie. Great Grandchildren; Makenzie and Harper. Her brother Chuck (Sissy) Holloway, Cindy (Mugs) Funk and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cheri is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Tina Longnecker.

Working alongside her husband Dan for nearly a half century at Lloyd’s Paint, Cheri could be found mixing a can of paint or balancing the accounts for the business. Retiring on the same day, Dan and Cheri threw themselves into the care and enjoyment of their home, a barn they restored themselves. Hickory Hill was a dream made true for them and the culmination of long hours spent planning and doing their share of the labor of restoration.  Quilting was Cheri’s lifelong passion, over the years she created numerous family heirlooms and countless wonderful memories. Travel was a must, Cheri and Dan traveled with family and friends whenever an opportunity arose. Their adventures took them nearby to a summer home on Lake Geneva, New Orleans, Florida, and as far as the Tahitian Islands. Mom, or Bombi as she was called by the grandchildren, assumed her role as family matriarch with pride. She was known for her Sunday dinners and the ability to solve any problem whether that be hemming pants or just lending an ear. She taught her daughters, grandchildren, and anyone who crossed her path that while you may be tiny (her nickname was aptly Shorty) it’s still possible to make a big impact on the world. Cheri had a way of making people feel like they belonged from the moment they met. She wanted to make sure all her friends and family knew that she had a wonderful life, having a deep gratitude for all of her relationships and life experiences.

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece...but to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out and defiantly shouting, ‘Whooo doggie!!! What a ride!!!’”

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock.  Immediately followed by food and revelry at DC Cobbs.

A special thanks to nieces; Rhonda Breslin, Christi Longnecker, and Robin Longnecker for all their support and love. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either Helping Paws or the Woodstock Christmas Clearing House.
