Charles J. "Chuck" Zimmermann

Charles J. “Chuck” Zimmermann, 92, of Woodstock passed away on October 11, 2017 in the JourneyCare Hospice Unit in Woodstock.

He was born October 19, 1924 in Chicago to Fred and Theresa (Gart) Zimmermann.  He married Marian Mundt Fillion in Woodstock.

Chuck began farming at an early age.  His joy for farming soon fired his love for tractors, plants, animals, and his knack for growing beautiful roses.  After he left the farm, he worked for a number of different companies.  Brown Camera, Kishwaukee Valley Medical, and Amcore Bank to name a few.  His last career was working the car wash with his brother.  He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a proud member of the “Liars Club”, and a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir and funeral choir for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marian Zimmermann of Woodstock; three step children, Craig (Sandy) Fillion, Jeanne (Mike) Gannon, and Rita Fillion; grandchildren, Tina (Kurt) Vavra, Todd (Amy) Gannon, Nicholas Fillion; great grandchildren, Allison Vavra, Conlan Leese, Tyce Gannon and Peyton Carver Fillion.  A brother, Paul Zimmermann; two sisters, Terese Thompson, Anne (Steve) Jaenicke; a sister in law, Barbara Zimmermann; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive him.

His parents; his stepmother, Alice Zimmermann; a brother, Robert J. Zimmermann; a brother and sister in law, Fred and Florence Zimmermann; and a niece, Patricia J. Zimmermann, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Avenue, Woodstock on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
